1978 THE DEMPSTERS

The biography of Captain James Maclean Dempster and his family from the earliest days of the Swan River Colony to the beginnings of the twentieth century is traced in The Dempsters. Set against the broader history of Western Australia it covered the pioneering family's involvement in activities including shipping and coastal trading, exploration, farming, whaling, fishing, pearling, sandalwooding, and the search for gold.
