Swimwear continued

Prior to the Second World War most costumes were made from wool, with the one piece popular for both men and women.  Companies like the Australian-owned Speedo made swimming costumes with an eye to fashion.

After the Second World War beach culture became increasingly popular with beaches like Perth's Cottesloe beach attracting hundreds of casual swimmers.
