Swimwear continued

After the First World War neck to knee bathing costumes disappeared. Swimming was popularised by the Australian mass-media through swimming heroes like Annette Kellerman and "Boy" Charlton.  At the same time a surf life saving movement developed on suburban beaches to police and monitor the safety of an increasing number of swimmers.
