Public Space

The importance of public spaces in town planning can be seen with the creation of pedestrian spaces such as the Hay Street Mall in the City of Perth in 1970, Forrest Place in 1979,
and further extensions to the arcade system with City Arcade (1968) and Carillion Arcade (1982).  The Perth Cultural Centre (1982) also provides a public space aimed at linking Perth's major cultural bodies.
